How We Adjust Dog Walks in Winter 🐾❄️

Winter in Northwest Ohio brings snow, ice, wind, and freezing temperatures — which means dog walks need a little extra thought. At Anna’s Animals, we adjust our winter routines to prioritize safety, comfort, and connection, while still making sure your dog’s needs are met.

Safety always comes first.
When sidewalks are icy or temperatures dip too low, we shorten outdoor time and focus on quick, efficient potty breaks rather than long walks. Cold, salt, and ice melt can be tough on paws and joints, so our goal is to give dogs the relief and fresh air they need without unnecessary exposure.

Paw care is part of every winter visit.
After each walk, we wipe paws and exposed fur to remove snow, ice, salt, and chemicals. This helps prevent irritation and keeps your dog comfortable once back inside.

Movement doesn’t stop — it just moves indoors.
On especially cold or harsh days, we shift our focus to indoor enrichment. Gentle play, mental stimulation, and simple training games help burn energy and keep dogs engaged when outdoor time is limited.

Companionship matters more than ever in winter.
Shorter days and colder weather can feel isolating for pets. That’s why our winter visits are about more than just a checklist — they’re about presence, calm energy, and connection. Whether it’s a few extra minutes of play or quiet time together, we make sure your dog feels seen, safe, and cared for.

While winter walks may look different, consistency never changes.
Our approaches shift with the season, but your dog’s routine, familiar faces, and reliable care stay the same — and that consistency is what helps pets feel secure and confident in our care.

Rain or shine (or snow!) We show! Because your pets deserve consistent care even when it’s cold.

Winter doesn’t mean cutting corners — it means caring smarter. Our team adjusts every walk and visit with intention, so your dog stays happy, healthy, and loved all season long. 💙🐾
